We live in strange times, and so many of us are now sitting at home waiting for this crisis to pass us by. At first it sounds great being at home, but a week in you’re playing Tic Tac Toe with the dog, and then losing! To avoid that, here are some ideas for things you can do at home to help make this social distancing situation pass a little quicker.
Look to your Land
As much as we need to actively do our part in social distancing, we also need to be filled up with the outside Texas air. What better way to do that than to spend some time enjoying your land? Get outside, plant a garden, hike on your property, photograph the beauty of your land, have a good ol’ Texas campfire…just let your land feed your soul. There is a reason you live where you live. Enjoy it!
Learn a new Skill
One of the key things about quarantine is to keep active, not just your body, but your mind. So now is the ideal time to learn a new skill If you have an old guitar somewhere, you can learn that, or maybe you want to draw, learn how to make bread, anything you can think of.

Just check out YouTube for free lessons and get started. You will be amazed at the quality instruction available on any subject you can think of all for free, so take this opportunity to add another string to your bow. Not only does this occupy the time, it engages your brain, makes you think in ways other activities simply can’t. It’s good for you.
Catch up on your Reading
If you are anything like us, you have a list of books you’ve always wanted to read, you may have already bought some of them, and they’ve been sitting on the shelf ever since. There was always something more important to do, but now you have the time. Break out that book, sit back, relax and lose yourself in another world for a while. Your mind will thank you later.
Get Creative

They say we’ve all got one great book in us, maybe now is the time to let yours out? It doesn’t have to be writing of course, maybe you prefer to draw or paint, or perhaps you are more the photography type? There are plenty of ways to get creative at home, and it lifts the mood and gives you focus.
Look to the Future

With bad news all around and the quarantine keeping us all indoors, it can be easy to feel down with everything that is going on. So, instead of obsessing about what is going on now, look to the future. Plan what you are going to do after quarantine. Look for places to visit, plan the trip of a lifetime, whether at home or abroad. What is on your bucket list? Do you have a dream and now have time to plan it? Don’t forget that dreams come in all shapes and sizes and can be as simple as finding the perfect property for your dream home. Start a vision board of exactly what you want. Start the steps to achieving your dreams now. It can really give you a break from everything by looking to the future.
Above all, it’s important to keep yourself active in mind and body. These are just a few ways you can do that, and we’re sure you have many more ideas too.
